Huntin' for Eggs

We had lots of fun on easter. Katryn loved looking for the eggs, and then trying to feed them to Indy. The weather was actually nice too! better than the snow we had a few days before.

Coloring Eggs

We had such fun coloring eggs for Easter. Katryn loved it, and we only lost two eggs to tragic deaths off the high chair. They made a good egg salad for me the next day, so all was not lost. :)

My garden!

Last year, my garden totally failed. Mostly because I forgot to water it. It was totally my fault. It also didn't help that Katryn was only about 6 months old, couldn't crawl yet, and was only napping for 30 minutes at a time. It didn't give me much room to do much of anything!

So far I have 2 rows of peas planted, and 1 row of spinach. Look at my peas growing! yay! I kind of took over my parents garden a little bit, since they'll be gone all summer and I don't have the space for one here.

In the next few weeks I'll plant my tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and squash. Maybe a melon too. . .we'll see if Matt gets transferred. If that's the case, I'll give my garden up to Glenn. He was planning on taking full advantage of it anyway.

Yup, since we didn't get the promotion we were expecting, we're looking to move.

To Georgia. (!!!!)

In which case, we'll be visiting you Ashley :)

Why Georgia you ask? Well, the housing market is fantastic. We could move, without Matt getting a promotion and be able to buy a house on our income. Here? There's NO WAY we could afford a house on this income. Shoot, we can't even afford rent here! We live with his parents so I can stay home with Katryn.

Second, there's about a gamestop on every corner. Within a 20 mile radius of a house we're looking at, there's over 30 gamestops. Here? Within 20 miles there's 4. That means there's a HUGE chance he would get promoted faster.

Until we know for sure though, we're growing our garden! We're teaching Katryn to pull weeds. Well, she likes to pick up the sticks. But our garden will work this year!!

My new toy

I finally bought it. I've been eyeing this wheat grinder for a while now, and I sucked it up and bought it today. The tax return sure helped! It's the Wonder Mill grinder, and I'm got BIG plans for this thing!

Our goal is to become better at using our food storage. The LONG-TERM food storage that is. We always eat out of the panty, mostly because I hate grocery shopping. Thank goodness for the food co-op and giving me a fair share of fruits and veggies.

One of the things I liked about this mill, as opposed to other mills was the two parts. The mill, and the flour container. I can grind 12 cups of flour, and then store the mill in the storage room. The flour can stay in my kitchen in it's own container! Space is limited in our little basement apartment, so size was important.

I've got bread going right now, and I have a few other things I want to try, like this cream'o'chicken soup recipe that uses bean flour (and therefore makes it dairy free so Katryn can eat it!)

Our new bed

When I worked at the willey, I had a pretty darn good discount. Which I miss. Right now, we're in the market for a chest freezer to help us build our food storage. I thought, hey, let's check out the outlet and see if they have a freezer someone returned because it had a dent in the side or something. (I worked in customer service, and I know people return things because of cosmetic reasons ALL THE TIME)

They had some freezers, but we'd seen cheaper ones elsewhere, so we were wandering the store, letting Katryn toddle everywhere (which she loved) and then we saw it. . .

The bed frame to our set. We have the table and all 8 chairs,we have the nightstands, and now, we have the bed frame!! And the price. . . oh the price. . .it was cheaper than I would have gotten it with my discount after working there for almost 2 years. WOOHOO!!!

Yup. And even though it was in the clearance section, and chances are there was something wrong with it. We couldn't find anything. everything fit together just fine when we put it together last night. We looked all over it and found nothing so we are HAPPY!!! Just a few more pieces to go and we'll have it all!! :)
